Encierro
Second EncierroUpdated event: 8/7/2009 a las 08:20 horas
The bulls from Cebada Gago were divided at the beginning of the Estafeta curve. A boy got a horn to the buttocks at the corner of Mercaderes. Like yesterday,
the run lasted a quick 2.5 minutes.
This morning's run was exciting and fast. The bulls from the ranch of Cebada Gago are known to be especially fast and dangerous.
At 8am the bulls were released from the corral and the encierro began with the signal rocket. The steers guided the six bulls up the Cuesta de Santo Domingo and to the square in front of city hall where a boy received a "cornada" to the buttocks and was swiftly attended to by the medics behind the first fence.
Halfway through the famous long stretch of Estafeta, a steer (manso) and 2 black bulls slid
and separated from the rest of the group.
When the animals were leaving the Town Hall Square, the flock
together again, and despite some slips before Mercaderes, came together
at the beginning of the Estafeta street.
In the section of Telefonica and the descent to the alley which leads to the Plaza de Toros,
one of the bulls caught several young men with his horns, but no injuries resulted.
Despite this, the run was clean and the herd arrived quickly to the corral in the Plaza de Toros.
The cattle will be fought this afternoon
at 6:30 by the skilled toreros, Antonio Barrera, Francisco Marco and Sergio
Aguilar.
